This year's exhibition showcases the artwork of 116 students from the classrooms of 39 teachers representing a total of 26 schools across Cape Cod. 23 of the participating teachers also have their own work on display
in this exhibition.
Mediums used by students include sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, ceramics, textile, fiber, paper, mixed-media and video.
Through Young Eyes gives young artists a forum to be recognized for their talent in the arts.
There are many opportunities for students to receive recognition and shine, especially in sports, but this exhibition is one of the few opportunities for Cape Cod youth to display their work in a museum setting, which may even encourage them to make a career in the arts. Some of the teachers involved in the exhibition this year have shown their work at CCMoA before when
they were students!
The Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association (CCIAEA) also offers scholarships to
graduating seniors pursuing an education in the visual arts. There will be a Scholarship Ceremony at the Cape Cod Museum of Art on Thursday, May 18 at 4:30pm.
