Founded by artists in 1981, CCMoA is the home of Cape Cod Art.
The Museum preserves the work of the Cape’s finest artists and celebrates the distinctive artistic identity of the Cape, the Islands and the region. It is a major hub of the cultural life of the region.
The Museum is situated in a beautiful setting surrounded by a Sculpture Garden in Dennis, Massachusetts. CCMoA has seven galleries, an education center, pottery studio, museum shop and a film screening room.
Join our Internship Program!
We are proud to offer a limited number of opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students interested in the museum field. Areas of interest include art education, art collection management, archives management, fund raising events, and Museum Shop support. Photography and videography for social media and marketing support also welcome. Interns will gain hands-on, working knowledge of the logistics and general operations of a Non-Profit art organization. You will be fully integrated into the work environment, attend inter-department meetings, learn the structure and experience the strategic operational decisions involved in running an Art Institution.

These positions are open to undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates who majored or are majoring in art, art history, arts administration, museum studies, arts education, hospitality and similar fields. The CCMoA Summer Intern Program runs June – August (normally 10 weeks) during weekday office hours, with a weekly commitment of 20 hours minimum, including limited weekends and evenings and participation in our August Annual Gala and Art Auction. Weekly schedules are flexible and can differ from intern to intern depending on their scheduling needs. CCMoA will work to coordinate a mutually agreeable schedule.
This is an unpaid position. Interns will receive a one-year CCMoA membership, letters of recommendation, and free admission to a Museum School class or event of their choosing. We are happy to help satisfy documentation requirements for college credit if applicable, (must be reviewed in advance). We are unable to sponsor international students in the United States on a student visa.

Qualifications include flexibility to help staff with various operational tasks outside the specific scope of their internship position, museum programming, and event support. Opportunities may vary in areas of special events, visitor services, and marketing. Physical work may be required. Strong computer skills necessary – PC platforms, photography skills, and audio/visual capability beneficial to support events and classes. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. CORI certification is required for Youth Education.

Departments Available
ART EDUCATION
Work with the Education Manager. Must have interest in Youth Art Education as well as Adult programs. Responsibilities include class orientation, set up and breakdown, teaching instructor assistant. Duties also include posting positions on our wix website platform, instructor contracts, supply management. Must be flexible with hours, independent, pleasant, and patient with an appreciation for learning various art forms. Photography and videography skills a plus.
COLLECTION & ARCHIVAL MANAGEMENT
Work with the Registrar on projects related to collection data recording and digitization. Duties also to include exhibition support, updating existing databases. Requires attention to detail, ability to handle heavy works of and objects. Must understand art media types. Computer skills to a must, photography experience beneficial.
EVENT MANAGEMENT
Work with Director and event team to handle all aspects of fundraising events specifically the Annual Art Auction held early August. Duties include Art receiving, cataloging, photographing, and exhibiting. Duties to include all aspects of event planning from marketing to menu. Flexible schedule required, primarily weekday office hours, occasional evenings, or weekends. Strong computer skills required, attention to detail, and multi-tasking necessary. Photography and videography skills a plus.
MUSEUM SHOP
Work with the Museum Shop Manager and volunteers. The Cape Cod Museum of Art offers local Artists and Artisans works, the shop is run on a consignment program. Duties include handling all aspects of running a retail store, from meeting with local artists to identify products suitable for the Museum Shop, inventory management, merchandising, concept ideas, and selling. Also, to include online store management where photography and computer skills are necessary. Flexible schedule must enjoy working with people.

It is suggested that you have a car, or transportation means. Parking is available at the Museum.
HOUSING
Cape Cod Museum of Art does not offer housing. CCMoA is conveniently located in Dennis, MA.
We recommended that you check the map location since the Cape has 15 towns driving time can be challenging.
