The Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod and the Cape Cod Museum of Art invite people with memory impairment, and their caregivers, to join us on the first four Mondays of each month from 10:30 to 12:00 pm. Light snacks and beverages offered.
There is no fee to attend, but pre-registration is required.
Despite cognitive loss, the ability to respond to the arts can still be appreciated on an emotional level. Art and music can act as gateways to stories and memories. In fact, research shows that art can help stimulate memory, enhance conversation and build a sense of inclusiveness among individuals with dementia.

Community partners, Cape Cod Museum of Art and Alzheimer’s Family Support Center invite people with memory impairment and their caregivers to “meet us at the museum” for a series of free programs. Most Mondays, there’s something new to experience as participants engage not only with art, but also with other members of the group in a warm, caring, supportive environment. Attend as many, or as few events, as you want. Although these free Mondays are not “drop off” programs, they are “drop-in” opportunities for caregivers and those they care for to bond with their peers and get in touch with their creative side. So come join the fun!
Color Me Creative – 1st Monday of each month
Color Me Creative begins with a guided group viewing and discussion of an original artwork from the Cape Cod Museum of Art Permanent Collection. Participants then use colored pencils, markers, and a coloring-book version of the featured artwork to explore their own creativity. Limited to 8 participants and their caregivers.
Arts & Ideas – 2nd Monday of each month
Participants with their caregivers are invited to enjoy a different artistic experience each month including sing-alongs, the always popular visit from local therapy dogs, or guided a hands-on activitiy. Each session offers something new to discover.
The Artist Within – 3rd Monday of each month
Participants with their caregivers explore creativity through a guided hands-on art-making activity in a welcoming, supportive environment. Limited to 8 participants and their caregivers.
Art & Conversation – 4th Monday of each month
A guided discussion led by Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) trained Museum Educators of select artworks from the Cape Cod Museum of Art Permanent Collection. Participants and caregivers are invited to share personal insights, ideas, and observations—or simply listen and enjoy.
