1-Day Workshop: The Meditative Art of Zentangle with Suzanne O’Malley

What is Zentangle? It is the formation of Zentangles, or miniature pieces of unplanned, abstract, black and white art, created through a very specific method, to form structured patterns on a square paper tile. The artform easy-to-learn and relaxing.

Certified Zentangle Teacher Suzanne O'Malley will introduce what Zentangle is and demonstrate step-by-step how to create the different “tangles” which students will then use in their piece. Students can do their pieces in traditional black and white or add color by using markers and/or colored pencils which are available for use. No artistic background is needed, materials included.

"I currently reside in Sun City, AZ, and have been painting for over 20 years.  As I have now retired, I am able to split my time between Arizona and Cape Cod, MA. 

I started out working in watercolor and took many classes at Paradise Valley Community College. However, discovered that after time, found my 'niche' in botanical/floral subjects which led to further classes at the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens. As a result, I expanded my medium to include both ink and colored pencil. Since that time, I then discovered Zentangle which I have been working in for over 10 years now. 

I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher which required travel to Providence, RI, and taking a Certification Course as offered by the Zentangle Founders, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. I obtained my certification in 2017. I have been teaching Zentangle Workshops shortly thereafter and have been teaching Zentangle Workshops at Shemer Art Center and Museum in Phoenix, AZ for the past four years."
