Art has been used for persuasion and protest for centuries. This lecture covers such works as Roman propaganda sculpture, paintings celebrating royalty, abolitionist works, and the French and American revolutions. and concluding with the 20th and 21st centuries, artworks commenting on racism, gay rights, feminism, the Vietnam War, and other social justice concerns.
