To give our monsters personalities, we complete them by using glitter, paint, beads, feathers and sand for their outer textures. When our full-formed monsters are in the room, we ask them to speak to us. Do they talk back? We create a safe space for this communication to take place. Who knows, we may find out that our monsters are part friend as well as part foe.

Amy Kandall, Artist

Amy Kandall has been making art with teens for 20 years in public schools. After attending a year at Chicago Art Institute, Amy studied painting at S.U.N.Y. Purchase. She earned her teaching credentials through Hunter University in NYC. She took a year to study at Temple University in Rome and has her MFA from Bard College. She is IB certified and is currently teaching at Nauset Regional High School.
