About

Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, 2026, 10:00 - 3:00 pm. Includes museum admission.

Shabott’s recent CCMoA solo exhibition, You Only Get One Body, demonstrated how a single theme—here, the human figure—can be explored through variation in scale, material, and approach. Building on this idea, this two-day workshop invites artists to develop a cohesive series of work based on a chosen theme or subject that relates to the model. Click to see the full show online.

Inspired by the Docent-Curated CCMoA Permanent Collection exhibition Variations (on view through April 5, 2026), the workshop will begin with a guided tour of the exhibition led by Shabott and a CCMoA docent, encouraging close looking and thoughtful discussion.

In the studio, participants will initiate multiple works on paper, canvas, or board. Each piece will be connected by a shared motif while allowing for experimentation in shape, color, form, and approach. Instruction will include structured prompts, supportive critique, and the creative exchange that comes from working alongside fellow artists.

To help participants prepare for the weekend workshop, Shabott will host a one-hour Zoom orientation on Thursday, March 12, at 6:00 pm.
