Shibori Dyeing for Mother's Day 1-Day Workshop with Sue Fox Mitrano 

Friday, May 12 from 10:00-1:30 pm.

Give the gift of creative time together!  Bring the Mom in your life (or your daughter or son!) to this beginner-friendly workshop!  Learn the art of Shibori, a Japanese manual hand-dyeing technique that produces unique and beautiful patterns on fabric in a range of blues using Indigo dye. Create fabulous wearables or home goods using Indigo dye for yourself or to give as gifts.

Guaranteed to be a lot of fun and each piece will truly be one-of-a-kind!

Four different patterns will be taught - you’ll choose two techniques to prep your fabrics. Students may choose to create:

• One 8"x72" silk scarf and One 11"x60" scarf
• Two 18"x18" cotton pillow covers w/zippers
• One large cotton tote bag w/pocket 19"x17"x9.5"

Students should bring their own pair of vinyl gloves, longer styled dish-washing gloves work best.

An artist working in many mediums, Sue Fox Mitrano of Blue Fox Studio, currently creates Shibori textiles and nature-inspired linocut prints. Her hand-dyed silk, cotton, and wool scarves are made with traditional Shibori techniques as well as original designs.

Sue is also a certified K-12 Art Teacher with a BFA in Graphic Design from Syracuse University and a BA in Art Education, teaching in public and private schools. She has been teaching children and adults at art centers for over 10 years.
