Here is how it works...

Choose a Hand-Made Ceramic Bowl to Keep & Feast on Delicious Pasta

Restaurants Compete in “Best Pasta Sauce Contest”

“The Italian phrase mangia means ‘Eat’ but it carries the richer cultural meaning to eat with great enjoyment,” says Benton Jones, CCMoA Director of Art. “What’s more enjoyable than sitting down in the warmth of community and eating delicious pasta from artistic bowls handmade by our wonderful artists and students with love?”

Each guest will choose from decorated bowls of different colors and sizes that were created by the museum’s Ceramics Instructor Nat Doane and volunteer pottery students. The students have been hard at work throwing, trimming, and glazing these pasta bowls. Every guest will take their chosen bowl home as a remembrance of this shared event. In the interest of reducing the amount of waste we produce, we are encouraging attendees to bring their own utensils. Please bring your own fork if possible.

A choice of either ziti or spiralized vegetables will be offered. Multiple popular restaurants will compete for “Best Meat Sauce” and “Best Veggie Sauce.” Some of the competing restaurants are Encore, Underground Bakery, 3 Fools, and Treats/Dennis Inn. Beer will be donated by Cape Cod Beer, and Snowy Owl will be providing coffee.

The winning restaurants will receive a beautiful handmade ceramic platter created by Nat Doane.

Guests will also have a chance to win a special pasta bowl handmade by the President of the CCMoA Board of Trustees, Kathleen Fowler and Nathaniel Doane, the Ceramics Instructor at the museum.

Pottery student end event organizer, Elizabeth Sweeney, said, “After the success of our first Mangia events, we are thrilled to again offer this fun, family friendly, and unique event.”

Many Thanks To Everyone Who Contributes to this Annual Fundraiser!

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Dennis Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
