The Painterly Print- Monotypes, Monoprints, On and Off the Press with Liz Perry

4 Thursdays, March 10-March 31, 2022

9:00 – 12:30

Beginner to Intermediate

Limited to 8 students 

Experiment with the free-form art of the monoprint/ monotype using CCMoA's etching press and water-based inks. Learn new techniques to enhance your monotypes once off the press, using linocut prints, trace drawing, stencils, and Prismacolor colored pencils. Short demonstration to start each class.

Materials to bring:

• (optional) Larger beveled plexiglass plates, if that is your preference

• 6-7 full sheets of BFK Rives or Stonehenge printmaking papers (or more if you are working on larger plates)

• Any Akua, Speedball, or other water-based inks you may have on hand

• tweezers, scissors, pencils, watercolor or Prismacolor pencils, paintbrushes

• tracing paper

• (optional) sheets of mylar or thin plastic

• cut up netting and any thin shapes we can run thru the press, such as dried leaves, string, cut stencils, etc.

• Q-tips

• large pad of newsprint

Available in the CCMOA studio:

• plexiglass plates in various smaller sizes

• water-based block-printing inks in most basic colors

• brayers and inking spatulas

• barens for hand-printing

• linocut blocks for surface design

• linocut tools for carving

• aprons

Covid Policy effective February 17, 2022: Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory. Vaccination cards are not required for indoor classes and events. Our Museum School classroom features a REME-HALO Ultra-violet air purification system and Hepa filter for everyone's safety.
