About

Young artists will explore their creativity through drawing, painting, collage, 3D art, clay, and more in this engaging and hands-on class led by CCMoA youth art instructor Jennifer Stratton. Inspired by the spirit of Claude Monet and the beauty of the natural world, students will experiment with color, light, and texture while developing their artistic skills in a supportive and encouraging environment.

As part of the experience, all students will tour the current exhibitions at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. Weather permitting, students will also spend time creating and exploring in the Museum’s outdoor Yusana Denny Sculpture Garden, drawing inspiration from large-scale works of art set within the natural landscape. This enriching class nurtures creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for art.

Jennifer Stratton is a visual artist, musician, and expressive/creative arts facilitator. She lives in Hyannis with her husband. Jennifer’s experience with the healing power of expressive art led to a strong desire to help others tune in to their own creative gifts. In 2009 she received her Certificate of Graduate Studies Program for the Professional Application of Expressive Arts for Healing, also at Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. She works with organizations, groups, and individuals using expressive arts as a way for people to deepen their own self-discovery process, as a tool to deal with specific issues, and also to just have fun, learn about art and build community. Most recently, she held the position of Art Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee. She is also a certified CTI-trained Life Coach.

The Cape Cod Museum of Art is committed to making Art accessible to everyone in the Cape Cod Community. The Museum School Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to qualified, year-round Cape Cod residents ages 6 and up. Click here to apply.
