Thinking Critically and Creatively -- THROUGH ART!
This new four-session course, intended for both non-artists and artists, uses the creative process as a tool to expand your critical and creative thinking skills. Each session promises to be highly interactive and engaging and will include a variety of activities and discussions.
Through lively critical and creative thinking, in a climate of relaxation and enjoyment of idea exploration, we’ll take some deep dives into the meaning and appreciation of various forms of artistic expression through these provocative themes: ART AS STORYTELLING; ART AS PROBLEM-SOLVING; ART AS SOCIAL COMMENTARY, AND ART AS EMOTIONAL EXPRESSION. Intriguing as we hope this sounds, what would it be without also inviting each of you to step out there to create and share an artistic expression of your own - perhaps inspired by some of the thinking journeys we take together!
We look forward to journeying – artistically - with you!
Instructors: Both instructors are faculty members in the Critical and Creative Thinking Graduate Program at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. Each has extensive experience in teaching the processes of effective thinking and problem-solving relevant to real-world challenges that people confront in their lives and livelihoods, and in preparing them to become agents of positive change within existing and new directions and paths they may choose in their lives.
