About
As part of the exhibition Old Yarmouth: Life During the American Revolution (on view April 9 – July 19), the museum invites families to a hands-on pop-in event with the Josiah Dennis Manse Weavers. Visitors can watch demonstrations of traditional spinning, weaving, and wool carding—skills commonly practiced in colonial New England—and even try a bit of weaving themselves. Guests will create a small woven patch to take home as a keepsake. This family-friendly activity is included with paid museum admission and is free for members.
Cover image credit: Oil on linen canvas replica of circa 1863 thirteen-star ship's flag made by a Boston marine outfitter. It was a replica of a 1781 flag that flew over Castle William, now Fort Independence, Boston Harbor. The original flag is preserved in Mass. Archives. Artist Annabelle Anderson.
