About

Paint Night! from  6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 23, 2020

Matisse broke ground using bright color for expression and was the most noted of the Fauves or “wild beasts.”  In the colorist vein we will paint Woman with a Hat (Femme au chapeau), 1905 by Henri Matisse

Acrylic paint, canvases, brushes, palette knives, palettes, easels and smocks will be provided.  The class is open equally to experienced painters and to those who have never held a brush before.  Each person will take away a painting along with new ideas about the creative process and visual expression.

Artist’s Statement

“Art is a soulful response to a subject. I am inspired by the people and environments of Cape Cod and places that I travel. My process begins with an emotional connection to a subject. I study how best to technically get this reaction on the canvas and then use my brushes and colors to convey my individual expression. It is a joyful challenge to hone an evolving, experimental, technical process that honors the world around us.” — Susan Overstreet

This program will run on the fourth Thursday of each month for three months - January 23, February 27, and March 26. Please see the Tickets section for full pricing details.
