Mixed Media Collage Workshop with Michael Giaquinto

2 Days: Thursday, June 23, and Friday, June 24, 2022, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

$80 Members, $100 Non-Members

Collage is an exciting way to explore materials and textures. Collage art provides the artist with a way to express thoughts, ideas and feeling about experiences and specific subjects.  Nurture your creativity,  have the freedom of experimenting with different media on a variety of flat surfaces … cut, tear, glue, put it all together — use multiple images to tell a story. All levels welcome. See materials list below.

Materials list:

  • Old books, magazines, if using old photographs, make copies first.
  • Cheap hardware store brushes, 1” - 2”
  • Foam brushes, 1” - 2”
  • Scraps of colored paper, tissue paper
  • Rubber Stamps, stencils, and ink pad
  • Utility knife, craft pen knives, and scissors
  • Matte board, to mount your work on; up to 16 x 20 inches
  • Metal ruler (12” or 18”)

Michael A. Giaquinto is the former Exhibitions Curator at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He studied art at Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA, and Art History at North Carolina State University. Giaquinto taught art at St. John Paul II High School in Hyannis, MA. He currently teaches painting for adults at the Museum School at CCMoA and the Creative Arts Center, Chatham, MA.

He has held workshops at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA; The Truro Center for the Arts; and Falmouth Art Center. Giaquinto was awarded "Craftsman of the Year" by the Early American Life Magazine in 2001 and 2005. He is represented in Deborah Forman's book, Contemporary Cape Cod Artists on Abstraction, 2015.
