Wheel Throwing with Rachel Mulcahy

Join instructor Rachel Mulcahy for Tuesday night Wheel Throwing. Welcoming all skill levels and learning styles, this course features expert live demonstrations paired with personalized, one-on-one instruction. Watch your skills blossom as you learn and grow each week.

What to expect:

• Beginners: Learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including centering, pulling the walls, trimming, and glazing.

• Returning students: Receive tailored guidance to refine techniques and experiment with new forms and finishes.

• Projects: Over the course of 6 studio sessions, projects may include mugs, vases, bowls, plates, and other experimental forms.

What’s included:

• Clay: One 25-lb. bag of clay is included in your studio fee. Additional clay is available for purchase as studio reclaim clay (recycled clay) at a reduced rate.

• Firings: bisque firing and glaze firing (cone 6)

• Glaze: Full access to the studio’s large collection of glazes

• Open Studio Sessions: Access to 6 Open Studio sessions, held on Thursday nights, 6-8:30 pm. This is an optional additional session in the studio where students can practice and hone their skills.

Rachel Mulcahy is a ceramic artist from Dennis, Massachusetts, with a BFA in Art Education from Syracuse University and an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts. Rachel has been teaching ceramics at CCMoA for four years and has also taught ceramics at a local private high school and at the university level. Through her guidance, students of all ages have discovered the joys of working with clay.

Please park in the back of the museum—take the 2nd driveway off of Hope Lane. You will enter the building through the pottery studio in the back.
