The Essentials of Paper
A 90-minute hands-on presentation on Strathmore Drawing and Watercolor Papers. She will focus on how understanding a paper’s fiber, weight, texture, surface, grade and permanency help artists select the right papers for their medium and techniques. Attendees participate in hands-on exercises and receive FREE Strathmore papers, a selection of drawing materials and a Watercolor brush. The presentation will cover all aspects of fine art drawing papers including:
• History of Paper, How Paper is Made, Components of Paper, Environmentally friendly papers and alternative fibers, Types, Grades and Storage of Paper
Understanding Contemporary Oil Painting Materials
A 90-minute hands-on presentation on Gamblin Artists Colors -- handcrafted luscious oil colors and contemporary mediums true to the working properties of traditional materials, This lecture demonstration will help painters choose those materials that best support their own artistic visions, and receive FREE Gamblin product. It will cover:
• Artist’s Oil Colors, Color Theory, Color Mixing, Mineral vs Modern Pigments, Indirect vs Direct Techniques, FastMatte Alkyd Oil Colors, Galkyd Painting Mediums, Building Permanent Paintings, Supports, Sizing and Grounds Studio Safety, Understanding Varnishes
About the Presenter:
Kristina Carroll is an illustrator and fine artist who resides in Boston, MA. She currently teaches Illustration at the New England School of Art & Design. She specializes in fantasy illustration. She was awarded the Bronze Medal Illustration West in 2011 and was a finalist in the 2013 Art Renewal Center Salon. She was also included in the Leurzer’s Archive of 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide.
