About

The human figure is one of the most challenging — and rewarding — subjects an artist can take on. In this two-day workshop, we'll slow down and look closely, building the skills to translate what we see into confident, expressive work on paper.  Some prior drawing experience is recommended. All skill levels welcome. Limit of 12 students.

Through guided exercises, live demonstration, and individual feedback, you will explore:

  • Articulating the figure using figurative construction techniques

  • Using value to create moments of emphasis and direct the viewer's eye

  • Working from a live model across a variety of poses and timings

Participants are welcome to work in their medium of choice.

  • Acrylic paint

  • Watercolor

  • Oil paint

  • Chalk pastel

  • Oil pastel

  • All media and all substrates are welcome; work with what you're comfortable with!

Lunch is a half hour. Please bring your lunch with you or pick something up in advance. A refrigerator is available if needed.
