About

This series of six classes will explore the figure in the environment.  The first hour of class will be timed poses for drawing, followed by a two hour long pose for painting with either clothed and nude models in a staged setting to explore composition, color theory and expression.

Working with a live model is the best way to improve drawing skills. All levels are welcome to study the figure with structured timed poses that will expand your knowledge of anatomy and inspire your individual expression. One on one instruction throughout the class as well as group discussions during model breaks will enhance the educational experience. $240 Not-yet Members / $220 Museum Members for this six-week, three-hour drawing class; Tuesdays 12 to 3. Limited to 8 spots.

Artist’s Statement

“Art is a soulful response to a subject. I am inspired by the people and environments of Cape Cod and places that I travel. My process begins with an emotional connection to a subject. I study how best to technically get this reaction on the canvas and then use my brushes and colors to convey my individual expression. It is a joyful challenge to hone an evolving, experimental, technical process that honors the world around us.” — Susan Overstreet
