Flower Power: Printmaking and Paper Making with Sadie Griesmer (Ages 12+)

Young artists are invited to let their art blossom in this summer studio class at the Cape Cod Museum of Art! Prepare to try new materials and be inspired. During Flower Power, young artists will explore papermaking and printmaking.

Projects will include: 

• Making artist studies

• Working from observation of floral arrangements

• Using colored pulp to craft images in paper

• Carving a linoleum block 

• Creating a series of prints

As part of the studio class, we will tour In Full Bloom: Still Lifes and Florals from the CCMoA Collection, which sources artwork from the CCMOA permanent collection.

Sadie Griesmer is a multidisciplinary artist working in watercolor, acrylic paints, and ceramics. She is an arts educator presently teaching children in grades 5-8 in Haverhill, MA. Known for bright colors, playful imagery, and collaborative practices, Griesmer has the ability to question, explore narrative, and find inspiration in the everyday, which is evident in her practice. The artist/educator is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a concentration in Art Education and a minor in Art History, as well as coursework at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
