About
DISCIPLINE: PAINTING OPEN TO ALL
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In this workshop, you will work in a relaxed, congenial and cooperative environment where there are no predetermined rules. You will generate your opportunities and limitations from a will to be expressive, and an exposure to methods, techniques, and strategies that help to turn visions of the world into your expression on canvas. There will be a clothed model in an environment that encourages composition. The class should be thought of as a painting class, not purely a figure painting class. You should come out of the class with a heightened ability to freely interpret reality in paint.
About Robert Henry
Robert Henry is currently having a one person exhibition at the CCMoA titled, Ship of State... and is the recipient of the CCMoA 2019 Artist Muse Award.
He began as an artist in New York studying with the famed teacher Hans Hofmann and as a young man was deeply involved in the Abstract Expressionism movement. His figurative expressionist paintings came from his imagination using drawing skills and an advanced level of technical and compositional skills. Henry taught at Brooklyn College for thirty years, where he is now a Professor Emeritus. He has taught for years in Provincetown, MA as well as many art schools.
Henry has lectured extensively, curated and written exhibition catalog essays, served on the jury for the Fulbright Awards, and been President of the Board of Trustees of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAMM). His work is in many private collections, as well as in 20 museum and corporate collections.
