About

Comics and graphic novels—also known as sequential art—are one of the world’s most dynamic storytelling forms, blending literature and visual art to create movement and time on the page. In this hands-on class, teens will learn how to develop and illustrate their own original comics and graphic novels using time-tested creative techniques.

Students will explore:

  • Story structure and pacing

  • Character design and world-building

  • Composition and panel layout

  • Typography and lettering

  • Professional comic materials and tools

Be ready to draw—a lot! This is an active, studio-style class designed to build skills, confidence, and creativity.

Please bring: Pencils, colored pencils, markers, watercolors, colored pens, rulers/T-square, and any preferred drawing materials. Jack suggests fillable watercolor brushes such as these from Dick Blick and Sakura Pigma Graphic Pen - 1.0 mm - Black Ink
