CAJUN PARTY DANCE CONCERT
Time & Location
Singer/Songwriter Digney Fignus is renowned for his infectious melodies and energetic performances whether with his full band, as a trio, duo or soloist. Critic John Jones of No Depression magazine calls him hands down "The best Boston musician." Now a full-time Cape Cod resident, Digney is booking clubs, festivals, and house parties. Digney's big break came when he won the MTV basement tapes with his hit song and video "The Girl with the Curious Hand." This led to a release on Columbia Records that Digney co-produced with Leroy Radcliffe. Digney's latest CD, Last Planet on the Left, received national and international airplay spending a month in the TOP 40 on the National Americana Chart and reaching #6 on the International Roots/Rock Chart. Digney won the WZLX Boston Anthem contest with his song "Boston Town.” The song is featured on the CD Boston Town which was nominated for Record of the Year by the Mass Country Music Awards Association. His CDs Trouble on the Levee and Talk of the Town each scored high on NPR, Americana, Roots Rock, and College Charts. Digney’s song "Party Down in Hell" was featured on Jerry Bruckheimer's show "Eleventh Hour" on CBS. His song “Gumbo” was used on NBC’s Today Show, and “Boudreaux” was runner-up for Best Americana Song by the Just Plain Folks Awards.
Reviews: “Last Planet on the Left further cements Digney Fignus's standing as one of the most complete and thought-provoking songwriters gracing the roots/Americana landscape. Lyrically positive and musically as brilliant as ever, these 12 songs have more hooks and lures than a fishing tackle box. If Last Planet on the Left doesn't get you moving, check your pulse and see if you're still alive!" - Reb Landers, The Alternate Root Magazine “A sophisticated blend of blues, folk, Cajun, and old-time music with a rock and roll heart, his ensemble’s playing is always dead on – precise, spare, yet loose enough to serve the backcountry spirit the lyrics evoke.” - Ted Drozdowski, The Boston Phoenix “It's Fat Tuesday and Digney and his band are ready to party. For the next 2 hours, they perform 25 original tunes spanning his career in front of a like-minded packed house. This tight band is red hot! Their country & western/reggae/southern rock sound is like Mellancamp meets Buffet with a bit of Charlie Daniels and Randy Newman thrown in. The 3-part harmonies are awesome and the less-spikey version of "The Girl with the Curious Hand" is superb.” - A.J. Wachtel, The Noise Magazine
