About

Well-known Cape artists Heather Blume and Joe Diggs will share an intimate collaborative artistic process with guests at the ART Salon of Cape Cod Museum of Art as they contribute to each other’s paintings. The public is invited to this casual salon to enjoy refreshments and chat with each other as they discover how art is created.

This co-creation of art is an enriching experience for each artist. In the process of exchanging their paintings for the other to work on, each influences the other through their personal feelings and techniques.

Joe Diggs who has worked collaboratively with other artists through the years says, “We’re all trying to learn. This is a great way to learn from each other and move forward faster.”

“You’ve got to mix it up to open it up,” says Heather Blume. “It’s about breaking boundaries, trusting the process, and knowing that at the end of it you have something that makes a statement.”

Both artists are currently in the CCMoA exhibition Go Figure: Exploring the Human Form which is on view through February 17, 2019.

Heather Blume is known for her figurative art, terra cotta sculpture and mixed media work. She graduated from the University of North Florida with a BFA summa cum laude in Painting, and then graduated cum laude from the Graduate School of Figurative Art in Sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. She often holds demonstrations and teaches at her studio in Harwich.

Joe Diggs, who blends figuration with abstraction, is often inspired by the pond at his Osterville home. He was born into a military family that supported his artistic and athletic desires. After graduating from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Painting, he became a Flight Attendant with US Airways. He recently completed a Masters of Fine Art Degree at Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
