“Abstracting from Nature” - A unique plein air painting workshop

Using the landscape as impetus, this workshop will explore abstract concepts. You do not have to be an abstract artist to take this workshop. There will be a series of exercises focusing on formal elements such as line, shape and texture. We will also dive into color theory to create paintings that are harmonious and cohesive. This is valuable information you can bring into your future work. Working abstractly will allow you the freedom to focus on what makes a solid, evocative painting of the experience without worrying about accurately representing the imagery in front of you. The landscape will be the fodder that feeds your expression.

Oil, acrylic, pastel, mixed media.  The course is about formal elements like line, shape, color, composition.

Mary Moquin

Received her BFA in Printmaking from Southeastern Mass University and her MFA in painting from UMASS Dartmouth. Her work is represented by Cove Gallery in Wellfleet and Chapman Art Gallery in Cotuit. She is an award winning artist, her artwork has been included in juried regional, national and international shows.
