A departure from Abstract Expressionism occurred on both Cape Cod and the Bay Area simultaneously from 1950 to 1970. For this lecture/discussion, Shabott will present Cape Cod figurative expressionists Robert Henry, Selina Trieff, Jan Mueller, Robert Beauchamp, and others. She will also present the work of David Parks, Joan Brown, Manuel Neri, Nathan Oliveira, and others from the Bay Area. A discussion about comparing and contrasting these coastal art movements will be fascinating.
Everyone is welcome. Non-Member ticket includes Museum admission for the day of the event.

Laura Shabott is a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at TUFTS. Figure Drawing is the foundation of her practice and living in Provincetown is the source of her inspiration. She is represented by Berta Walker Gallery and has a show there opening May 12th through June 9th.
