Neil Kennedy recently returned to Cape Cod from Sedona, AZ where he was a successful ceramicist and taught ceramics at the Sedona Art Center. He helped develop the program at the Art Center into one of the most successful ceramic schools in Northern Arizona. His classes in throwing and hand building were very popular and frequently sold out.

Neil lived the majority of his early life in Dennis. His mother who had been a volunteer receptionist at the Cape Cod Museum of Art took him to many of the ceramicists on Cape Cod during his school years which gave him inspiration. He and his mother would frequently go down to Scargo Pottery, from their home on Scargo Hill, to watch Harry Holl work. It wasn’t until his college years where Neil’s dialogue with clay began while studying figurative sculpture and Renaissance art in Rome, Italy. After getting out of college and working in the sports marketing world, Neil took ceramics classes at multiple institutions studying with some of our nation’s leading ceramicists.

Neil started working as a ceramicist in Santa Barbara, CA, twenty-five years ago. He then lived and worked as a ceramicist in Lake Arrowhead, CA and then Sedona. Now he has come back home to Cape Cod to work as a ceramicist and pass on the knowledge he has accumulated over the years. Neil is a hockey player, surfer, avid bicyclist and fisherman. He now resides with his husband in Brewster. Learn more at neilkennedyceramics.com
