MusArt Interconnections - Ana Glig with Guest Artist Milisa Valliere

Fifth, annual multi-media concert MusArt Interconnections with pianist Ana Glig (founder of MusArt) and guest artist Milisa Valliere will synthesize classical music with visual art in a live performance setting. The program includes music by Mozart, Bach-Cortot, Bach-Siloti, Janacek, Scriabin, Glinka-Balakirev, Sibelius, and others. 

Ana Glig (Gligvashvili) is an award-winning, Georgian-American pianist praised for her ‘’virtuosic command of works” (Sheid Susan, //www.prufrocksdilemma.wordpress.com// Tallinn, August 8, 2014) and ability to “capture hearts” (Musical America Worldwide). Glig’s playing is recognized for her “lovely expressiveness, clarity in legato, balance and perfect logic.” (Pfister Lois, Chatham Music Club Gala Reflections, 2023). 

A recipient of the Alfred Cortot prize at the Tbilisi International Piano Competition for the best interpretation of romantic music, Glig has performed internationally in Europe and the United States in solo and chamber settings. As an orchestra soloist, Glig debuted with Georgian and Israeli symphonic orchestras and most recently with Cape Symphony and Cape Cod Chamber Orchestras, performing Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals and J. S. Bach’s D Minor Keyboard Concerto. In a solo recital setting, Glig was a recent feature in Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert in Chicago, Illinois. 

In the review of her album ‘Reminiscences’ Fanfare Magazine recognized Glig’s playing for its “..sensitivity and ability to finely capture some of Georgia’s haunting, elusive film melodies ..as well as anyone on disc." A native of Georgia, Glig’s first musical impressions trace back to her early childhood and Georgian polyphonic singing, which influenced her path in music. Glig is a founder of multi-media concerts called MusArt Interconnections, which focuses on the synthesis of live the performance of classical music and visual art. 

Glig received her Master’s degree in piano performance from Mannes School of Music -The New School (NYC), an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from New York University (NYU Steinhardt). She completed her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Tbilisi State Conservatoire (Republic of Georgia). Glig also served as an adjunct piano faculty at NYU Steinhardt. Her teachers include Revaz Tavadze, Eteri Andjaparidze and Victor Rosenbaum among others. Glig is a Music Director at the First United Methodist Church in Chatham. Milisa Valliere: Artist and Founder, Inspired By Music

“What she hears turns to color”

Milisa Valliere is the artist behind the multimedia exhibition Inspired By Music. Her work is unique because her paintings are influenced by music. She paints fast to a variety of music genres, including rock, classical, world, blues, and jazz. The music fuels her work and frees her mind to create without judgment.

Valliere was raised by artist parents and traveled around the world to places where they wanted to paint. For the most part, she is self-taught, having developed her craft from a very early age. She says she used to paint to think how she felt about something. Now she interprets the emotion of music with color. Her pieces are lyrical abstracts that are emotionally charged and involve the spontaneous combination of vivid texture and color. 

Valliere has had recent solo and group exhibits in Cape Cod (MA), Memphis (TN), Maine, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Kansas City (MO) and is represented by Hammond Harkins Galleries in Columbus, Ohio. Previously, she was a Gallery owner in Kansas City, taught plein-air painting in Monet’s Garden, and exhibited widely in galleries throughout the Midwest. Valliere’s work is in many prominent collections.

She is married to Roland Valliere, symphony orchestra CEO, and music entrepreneur, who chooses the music to which she paints. They enjoy giving talks and sharing Inspired By Music with others. Milisa says her ultimate goal is to create art that celebrates as much of life as possible.
