This definitive biography of artist Arthur V. Diehl’s life (1870-1929) and art was researched and written with love and determination over the course of 40 years by the artist’s granddaughter, Eugenia Diehl Pell.


The beautifully bound, Smyth Sewn lay flat hard cover book includes 102 large, full color reproductions of Diehl's paintings interspersed in the 6 chronological chapters that follow his art career from England to Italy, Morocco and Holland to the United States- including New York and Boston, and later to Provincetown. He became a  historically significant figure in the Provincetown art scene in the 1920s, painting and selling accurate depictions of the fishing industry, boats at sea, and wharfs.
