About

“The iPad as a Plein Air Sketchbook” -  with Barbara Braman

June 12 • 3-5 pm

$90 members / $120 non members

One of the great advantages to drawing on the iPad (or iPhone…) is that it is so easy to bring everywhere. I have used my iPhone to draw while I am waiting for my partner to try on suits, on a bus, in the car while waiting for an appointment, in a park. Although there are styli that work on the iPhone, the iPad offers the big advantage of using the Apple Pencil as well as more room.

I will choose a site for drawing closer to the session.  We will meet there and after a brief orientation where I cover basic drawing techniques using the app Procreate, you can set up and start drawing. I will offer help and suggestions along the way.

You will need your iPad and Apple Pencil and if possible, something to cast shade. I will choose a location where shade is available, but you will have greater flexibility if you have a sketching umbrella or something to shade your iPad screen. Please download the app Procreate before the session. If you are curious about drawing with your iPhone, you can use Procreate’s iPhone app, Pocket. The interfaces are very similar.

Instructor’s Bio:

Barbara attended Bates College and was the first woman editor of the student newspaper.  After graduation, she worked as a technical writer and editor, writing technical documentation and user training manuals for the IT department of an insurance company. Barbara has been a digital artist and has worked in the media for the last decade.  She teaches workshops at the art center and regionally.  She is a juried member of Cape Cod Art Center.

Barbara Braman is a digital artist who now works exclusively on her iPad using her own photographs and drawings to create images that use color and form to express what she sees daily.  She lives on Cape Cod, a small seaside community in Massachusetts.

Barbara’s work can be seen at Nirvana Coffee Shop in Barnstable village and has been included in other local, national, and international shows.   She teaches classes and workshops in Mobile Digital Art at the Cape Cod Art Center and organizes a bi-monthly Cape Cod Digital Artists group.
