About

In 1935, Mary Crocker Fassett presented a piano recital in Bates Hall at Sarah Lawrence College, where she was a fourth-year student studying music with Frederick Hart. The program opened with Bach’s Prelude and Fugue, which the reviewer praised for its “true Bach interpretation.” Fassett was described as playing the opening selections “with unusual sympathy.” The Mozart Sonata was noted for its “delicacy of touch and beautiful phrasing.” Following a short intermission, she performed a Brahms Intermezzo, praised for its “calm and restfulness” and “amazingly light touch.”

Nearly a century later, award-winning Georgian-American pianist Ana Glig (Gligvashvili) revisits Fassett’s 1935 recital, bringing this historic program back to life. Glig has been recognized for her “virtuosic command of works” and “ability to capture hearts” by Musical America Worldwide. The performance will take place in the Hunter Gallery, currently home to the exhibition Mary Crocker Fassett, on view through November 8, 2026. The gallery setting offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience Fassett’s music in the gallery surrounded by her artwork.
