About
Paint Night! from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, October 24
One shape pushes at another; one color snuggles up to its neighbor while another color jabs back. The juggling dance of color-forms offers unexpected possibilities for discovery.
After covering a canvas with paint, we then stop, look and think about ways we might further each work. (Jackson Pollock called this his “getting acquainted period.”) Demonstrations will provide ideas and guidance. Acrylic paint, canvases, brushes, palette knives, palettes, easels and smocks will be provided. The class is open equally to experienced painters and to those who have never held a brush before. Each person will take away two or more paintings along with new ideas about the creative process and visual expression.
Pat Stark Feinstein is a teacher, curator and painter who has worked in New York and on Cape Cod. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Cork Gallery and Atlantic Gallery in NYC and at the Provincetown Art Association, the Cape Cod Museum of Art, the Harvest Gallery in Dennis, MA, among other venues. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College, Pat studied extensively with Sam Feinstein whose classes continued the Hans Hofmann modernist philosophy of art. Calling herself a ”second-generation” Hofmann student, Pat eventually taught painting workshops in Michigan and in Toronto working beside her husband Sam. For twenty two years Pat taught painting, drawing and the history of art and western culture at NY’s Riverdale Country School.
