About

Create your own ocean-inspired set of four coasters!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the flip-cup pouring technique and use fluid acrylic paint to create your own custom set of four coasters. Bring your own ocean water collected from a special beach or coastline, or choose from Miriam’s selection of ocean waters collected from different Cape Cod beaches. Your chosen water will become part of the story behind your artwork. You’ll learn how to mix and pour your colors, experiment with movement and flow, and create a unique design that you’ll be proud to use at home.

No previous painting experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and, if you’d like, a little piece of the ocean that means something to you! Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting paint on, or bring an apron to protect your clothes during the workshop.

Please note: The coasters require a long drying and curing period, so they will not be available to take home on the day of the workshop. Your finished coasters will be carefully dried and then professionally coated by Miriam with a protective finish to help protect the finished artwork from the heat of a cup. Coasters will be ready for pickup at the museum at the end of November. Shipping can be arranged with a surcharge.

Miriam Voros is an abstract artist based on Cape Cod whose passion for painting was reignited after moving to the area a few years ago. Deeply inspired by the ocean, shifting tides, and the ever-changing beauty of the Cape’s beaches, Miriam incorporates the natural environment directly into her creative process. She paints with acrylics mixed with ocean water from Cape Cod, embracing the experimental nature of fluid art—a technique that relies on gravity rather than brushes to move and shape the paint across the canvas.

Miriam's art is displayed on many different surfaces, from canvases to wooden boards, coasters, key chains, and jewelry. Her work was featured in Cape Cod LIFE’s 2024 annual Art issue and was juried into the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s 2025 exhibition Why Cape Cod? Learn more: mvartistri.com
