About

Cardboard is a universal, durable, abundant, and accessible material found in everyday life. So what exactly can we do with it? A lot!

In this studio class, young artists will be challenged to envision and execute sculptures and artworks crafted from cardboard.

We will learn about:

  • Different types of cardboards and their characteristics

  • Surface treatment and patina

  • Cardboard attachment and construction techniques

To inform our work, we will explore three exhibitions on display at CCMOA this summer: David Phillips: 57 Years of Sculpture, Cape Cod Open Sculpture Invitational 2026 (CCOSI), and the Permanent Sculpture Garden.

Sadie Griesmer is a multidisciplinary artist working in watercolor, acrylic paints, and ceramics. She is an arts educator presently teaching children in grades 5-8 in Haverhill, MA.
