Bruce Abbott (alto and soprano saxophone & flute) and Dennis Costa(classical, steel-string and arch-top guitar) present an exciting performance featuring music from their Echoes of a Century Album.

ECHOES OF A CENTURY highlights some of our favorite music from the 20th century. Bruce Abbott (alto and soprano saxophone & flute) and Dennis Costa (classical, steel-string and arch-top guitar) present an exciting program in a variety of styles from classical to jazz to popular song. Featuring compositions by George Gershwin, Maurice Ravel, Jimmy Dorsey, Thelonious Monk, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luis Bonfa, Astor Piazzolla, Ralph Towner and the Beatles. Highlights include unique medleys of Porgy and Bess, Black Orpheus and Abbey Road.

Dennis Costa has been featured as a performer at the Garden Theatre Festival in Los Angeles, The Guitar Foundation of America Festival in Milwaukee, The RISD Winter Concert Series, the American Mandolin and Guitar Summer School in Bristol, Jordan Hall in Boston and others. In addition to initial jazz studies at the Berklee College of Music, Dennis received a B.M. Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Southern California where he studied with James Smith, Pepe Romero, Gabor Rejto and others. He has served on the faculties at Los Angeles Pierce College, East Los Angeles College, the Community College of Rhode Island and has been on the music faculty at Salve Regina University in Newport RI since 1984. In addition to performing and teaching, Dennis Costa is the owner and manager of Wakefield Music Co. in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.

Bruce Abbott - Saxophone Bruce Abbott has served on the faculties of Nauset Regional High School, Salve Regina University and the University of Rhode Island, where he earned a Masters Degree in Music Performance.  He has performed at events and in concerts and clubs throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Highlights of his performing career include a concert tour of South Korea with the Rhode Island Saxophone Quartet and a concert performance in Americus, Georgia with the North Star Jazz Ensemble as part of the festivities for former President Jimmy Carter’s 75th birthday celebration. He has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival and has toured with the Artie Shaw Orchestra.

Currently Bruce performs with Trio Vivo, North Star Jazz, Cape Cod Jazz Quintet, Fred Fried and many others.

As a recording artist he has performed on over a dozen CDs with North Star Jazz and CommonGround as well as many other artists.
