The Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA) and the Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association (CCIAEA) are excited to present to 22nd annual Through Young Eyes Exhibition featuring the artwork of Cape Cod students in grades K-12, in a variety of mediums, curated into this exhibition by art teachers from across the region. Several teachers also have their work on display.

 

The exhibition raises awareness of Youth Art Month, organized by the Massachusetts Art Education Association, celebrating the value of art education and art participation for all children in Massachusetts during the month of March each year.

​The Cape Cod and Islands Art Educators Association was founded in 2003 as a collaborative effort between prospective, current and retired art educators and their supporters. The association represents a cross-section of the visual art education community on the Cape and Islands. Our members serve children in the visual arts in public, private and charter schools from Bourne to Provincetown. Children in grades K-12, college and adults are taught by the professionals in our organization.

 

Monthly meetings are scheduled from September to June and range in content from hands-on workshops, guest artists and lectures, demonstrations of best practices to arts advocacy. Professional dialogue and development also occurs

via exhibitions, ongoing professional affiliations and community service initiatives. Meeting locations alternate between Cape-wide schools and local art and cultural institutions.

 

Our members actively share work and life experiences and this interaction strengthens the social, academic and creative growth that amplifies our classroom performance. It enriches the content and instruction we provide. We find avenues of ongoing educational opportunities for our students, ourselves and our community. As a collective group we speak with a clear and weighty voice to issues directly impacting the access to and quality of art education across the region.
