Ideal for children aged 6 to 10, including those in kindergarten through third grade, the four-week program is crafted to be educational—aligning with Massachusetts Learning Standards for the Arts—and enjoyable, allowing students to express their individuality while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.


Led by art instructor Jennifer Stratton, students explore the five exhibition galleries at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, introducing young learners to a diverse array of artistic styles and techniques, inspiring their art projects. Weekly activities are varied and dynamic! Jennifer may engage students with painting in watercolor or acrylic paints, creating a mixed media collage, introducing printmaking techniques, or working with materials to create three-dimensional sculptures. A guest speaker will share their knowledge with the class on the current exhibition. On the last class of the session, families are invited to a mini student exhibition to learn about the students’ artwork.

Endorsed by the Cape Cod and Islands Art Educators Association (CCIAEA). CCIAEA was founded in 2003 as a collaborative effort between prospective, current and retired art educators and their supporters. Led by a volunteer Board of Directors representing the diversity of our community, the association represents a cross-section of the visual art education community on the Cape and Islands.


Jennifer Stratton is a visual artist, musician, and expressive/creative arts facilitator. Jennifer’s experience with the healing powers of expressive art evolved into a strong desire to help others tap into their creative gifts. In 2009, she received her Certificate of Graduate Studies Program for the Professional Application of Expressive Arts for Healing from Salve Regina University, Newport, R.I.


Jennifer currently works with organizations, groups, and individuals using expressive arts as a way for people to deepen their self-discovery process, as a tool to deal with specific issues, and also to just have fun, learn about art, and build community. A certified CTI-trained Life Coach, Jennifer formerly held the position of Art Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee.
