Join us for a unique one-hour talk exploring the Russian icon paintings of Cape Cod–based artist Alla Zbinovsky. Drawing on her classical training in Moscow during the 1990s and her deep connection to Byzantine and Russian sacred art, Zbinovsky offers a rare inside look at an ancient artistic tradition kept vibrantly alive in contemporary practice.
Through images, personal stories, and insights into traditional techniques, she will share how icons are created using egg tempera, gold leaf, and layered color—and how the slow, meditative process of iconography shapes her work today.
This talk traces Zbinovsky’s artistic journey from her early studies with icon “Masters” in Russia to her present-day studio at The 204 in Harwich, where she continues to paint, teach, and explore the intersection of spirituality and art.
