About

Biblically Speaking - An exhibition of photographs by Mark Chester with Torah Text & Commentary by Elias Lieberman, Rabbi Emeritus, Falmouth Jewish Congregation

Join photographer Mark Chester and Rabbi Elias Lieberman for a lively and engaging presentation exploring their collaboration, Biblically Speaking—an exhibition of photographs by Mark Chester paired with Torah text and commentary by Rabbi Lieberman. Currently on view at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation Seifer Community Center, 7 Hatchville Road, East Falmouth, the exhibition brings together contemporary photography and timeless biblical teachings in a thought-provoking visual dialogue.

During the presentation, Chester and Lieberman will discuss how the project evolved, the process of matching imagery with sacred texts, and the ways in which art and scripture can illuminate one another. Attendees will gain insight into the creative partnership behind the exhibition and explore themes of interpretation, spirituality, humanity, and connection that resonate across generations.

This special event offers an opportunity to hear directly from the collaborators, engage in discussion, and deepen appreciation for Biblically Speaking, a unique exhibition that bridges photography, faith, and storytelling.

“Still wondering if the Bible speaks to our times? This fruitful collaboration between a photographer and a rabbi – an intriguing blend of apt biblical quotations, contemporary images and illustrations and meaningful religious interpretations – should resolve all doubts. Read it, ponder it, and smile.” —Jonathan D. Sarna, University Professor and Joseph H. & Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History (Emeritus), Brandeis University

This talk is included with paid museum admission.
