Along with rarely performed piano pieces, Glig will perform a world premiere of the newly commissioned solo piano piece ‘From Far Away’ by an American composer Francis Snyder.
Ana Glig's album Reminiscences is based on her concept ‘homesickness’ and is inspired by solo piano works from Grieg to Liszt, Taktakishvili, Davitashvili, and living composers Kancheli and Snyder. These dreamy, intimate pieces depict the artists' quest to embrace growth and a new path, while carrying the bittersweet memories of youth and separation from motherland.
As a soloist, Glig debuted with Rishon LeZion and Evgeni Mikeladze Symphonic Orchestras in Israel and Georgia. She received awards from the Tel-Hai International Piano Concerto Competition and The Tbilisi International Piano Competition, where she was awarded the Alfred Cortot Prize for the best interpretation of romantic music.
Born in Telavi, Georgia, Ana revealed her early interest in music at the age of two. Since then she has developed a particular appreciation and love for folk and classical music traditions.
Glig graduated with a B.A. from Tbilisi State Conservatory, studying with Revaz Tavadze. She holds a Master's degree in Piano Performance from Mannes School of Music - The New School and received an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from New York University.
