Acrylic Painting Still Lifes For Beginners with Michael Giaquinto

4 Wednesdays, October 6 - October 27

6pm - 8pm

$120 Members, $135 Non- Members

This introductory course will approach painting as a step to find your “free expressions” using acrylic paint.  Still-lifes will be used to create your paintings and

in - studio demonstrations and class critiques. This class is for beginners and other levels of acrylic painting.

COVID policy:

All students must be vaccinated for COVID and wear masks. Please bring your vaccination card to your first class.

Cancellation policy:

CCMoA must be notified 1 week prior for refund.

Materials

Colors – Carbon or Ivory Black, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Light,

Cobalt Blue, Titanium White.

Brushes: Variety of sizes for acrylic paint + 2” wide brush (cheap)

Stretched Canvas - 8 x 10, and/or 11 x 14.

2B Pencil

One empty clean coffee can, for water

A roll of paper towels, for cleaning brushes

Instructor Bio:

Michael A. Giaquinto was the Exhibitions Curator at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He studied art at Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA. & North Carolina State University, where he studied Art History.

Museum Technician (1990 – 1991) at the Ackland Art Museum at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. Chief Art

Preparator (1991-2000) at the Gregg Art Museum, NC State University, Raleigh, NC.

Art Teacher (2003 -2005) at St. John Paul II High School in Hyannis, MA.

Painting and Drawing teacher, along with Multi-Media & Folk Art workshops for adults at the Weny Education Center at CCMoA, Creative Arts Center, Chatham, & the Cultural Center, South Yarmouth.

Michael has held workshops at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA. Weny Education Center at CCMOA and the Truro Center for the Arts.

Michael was awarded “Craftsman of the Year” by the Early American Life Magazine in 2001 and 2005 and in 2017 the VISI Award, presented by Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association; and was guest speaker and held a painting demonstration for the Guild of Harwich Artists, 2017.

His work has been exhibited with Berta Walker Gallery, Provincetown, MA., Chabot Fine Art Gallery, Providence, RI., Miller White Fine Arts, South Dennis, MA., Cape Cod Museum of Art, Dennis, MA., Cultural Center of Cape Cod, South Yarmouth, MA., Creative Arts Center, Chatham, MA., Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Provincetown, MA.

He is featured in Deborah Forman’s book, Contemporary Cape Cod Artists on Abstraction, 2015.
