Mixed Media Art Collage 2-Day Workshop with Michael Giaquinto
Tuesday, February 20, and Wednesday, February 21, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm
$80 Member / $100 Non-Member
Art collage helps to structure, develop, analyze, and present visual issues that are difficult to express in words. It is the technique of composing an artwork by gluing a wide range of materials - including pieces of paper, fabric, and/or newspaper clippings. This two-day workshop with artist Michael Giaquinto will bring together a variety of mixed media; including collage, embellishing, and paper craft. Mixed media may include acrylic paints, graphite, pastels, crayons, ink markers, and any water-based materials. Students can work on canvas board, pre-painted masonite, paper, matte board, old books, or any firm surface that will take paints and adhesives.
Michael will share a variety of examples in this two-day workshop to inspire you to artistically create a unique piece of art. Instructor demonstrations, critiques, and group discussions will be included.
Students should bring matte board(s) canvas board, and/or pre-painted masonite to mount their work on up to 16 x 20 inches along with the following:
- Old books and magazines, if using old photographs, make copies first.
- Watercolor paints or/and acrylic paints
- Cheap hardware store brushes, 1” - 2”
- Foam brushes, 1” - 2”
- Scraps of colored paper, tissue paper
- Rubber Stamps, stencils, and ink pad
- Utility Knife and craft pen knives
- Metal ruler (12” or 18”)
- Paper towels
