Learn the ancient art of Shibori dyeing! Create fabulous wearables or home goods using Indigo dye for yourself or to give as gifts.

This class is for those with basic sewing OR dyeing experience* (including past students). We’ll review some basics of the vat and Shibori prep and then dive into creating two larger scarves - an over $150 retail value - one 22" x 70" with fringe and one Infinity style. We’ll focus on three techniques not previously taught. Students can also opt to dye a pair of pillow covers or two of the same kind of scarf.

Much of the class time will involve stitching, folding, and binding to prep the fabric before soaking. The magic begins when we submerge the pieces multiple times in the dye vat! We’ll finish by rinsing thoroughly and hanging to dry.

You'll be sure to "ooh and aah" over your results. Come see why everyone loves Shibori!

*Sewing experience means you can easily hand sew a seam. Dyeing experience can be any submersion/dip dyeing.

Students should bring their own pair of vinyl gloves, longer styled dish-washing gloves work best.
