Playful Seascapes with Patty Barnes

Express your artistic voice and become an oil painter. Color, light, value, edges, composition and paint quality will be covered. Students will be invited to work from color photographic references. Weekly group critiques of past and present work will also be included. Patty’s own artwork can be seen in the CCMoA Museum Gift Shop and Eastwind Gallery in Orleans.

- Gamblin or Rembrandt Oil Paint (professional grade)

Titanium White, Ivory Black, Cadmium yellow light

Cadmium yellow medium, Yellow ochre, Orange Ochre

Cadmium red light, Cadmium red medium, Alizarin Red

Ultramarine blue, Cerulean blue, Cobalt Blue, Burnt umber

- Mediums: Gamsol, Liquin (optional)

- Can or jar to carry Gamsol solvent Canvas: 2 each— 8x10, 9x12, 16x20

- Brushes: I use Grumbacher Gainsborough as the are easy to clean and fit well in a female hand Sizes—#2,4,6,10,12 brights #1,2,3 rounds

- Palette: 16x20 wood rectangle

- Freezer paper and tape Paper towel Murphy’s Oil Soap—for at home clean up

- Photographs: Various color photographs of subjects you wish to paint.
