About

Call for Art: VISUAL VOICE – The Freedom to Create

Artists everywhere are invited to make their mark in the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s 2026 International Juried Exhibition, VISUAL VOICE: The Freedom to Create. This International Exhibition will be prominently featured at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in our expansive Hope / McClennen Gallery.

This exhibition celebrates the limitless power of artistic expression — the courage to speak through images, to challenge norms, to share what words cannot. Whether your work is bold and outspoken or quiet and contemplative, we invite you to exercise your freedom to create.

Interpret the theme broadly — as the expression of your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, or as the liberation that comes from creating without boundaries, without adhering to perceived rules of art-making. Experiment, take risks, and let your visual voice be heard.

All interpretations on the theme of VISUAL VOICE: The Freedom to Create will be reviewed by architect, exhibition designer, and curator, David Henry Perry. Three (3) monetary prizes will be awarded by the juror: $500, $200, $100

About the Juror: David Henry Perry

After nearly 40 years working in the architecture and exhibit design field in Boston and Cambridge, I decided to step back from that profession. Retirement, however, did not suit me, so I signed on to manage the Berta Walker Gallery in Provincetown. Berta Walker is one of the oldest galleries in town and represents an impressive mix of living mid and late career artists, as well as several artist estates. I learned a lot through my years of working there, but more importantly, I established strong relationships with the museums, galleries and most of all the artists of Cape Cod. When I left Berta Walker, it felt very natural for me to turn my attention to supporting and advocating for individual artists. I have since had the opportunity to curate several shows for artists whom I greatly respect and whose work I love. My ongoing studio visits to both established and emerging artists continue to enrich my life and foster new exhibition ideas.
