The Museum School at the Cape Cod Museum of Art presents:
Introduction to the Wheel with Rachel Mulcahy
3-Weeks: Tuesdays, 6/11, 6/18, and 6/25, and Thursdays, 6/13, 6/20, and 6/27, from 6:00-8:30 pm.
Member $225 /Non-Member $250, including materials fee.
Beginner-to-Intermediate Wheel-throwing Class
In this beginner-friendly course, participants will delve into the fundamental techniques of throwing on the potter's wheel, guided by experienced ceramic artist Rachel Mulcahy.
Throughout this 3-week course, you'll learn:
- The basics of preparing and centering clay on the wheel
- Essential throwing techniques to create functional pottery forms
- Techniques for trimming and refining your creations
- Insightful tips for glazing and finishing your pottery pieces
Whether you're a complete novice or looking to refine your wheel-throwing skills, this class offers a supportive and engaging environment to explore your artistic potential. Come discover the joy of working with clay and unleash your creativity in our welcoming studio space! Materials included. Open studio for this class will be held on June 12 and June 26, from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Rachel Mulcahy is a ceramic artist from Dennis, Massachusetts, with a BFA in Art Education from Syracuse University. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Ceramics at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, where she is developing her craft as an artist and teacher. Rachel's teaching experience spans across diverse demographics, from youth workshops to community classes, and university-level ceramic courses. Through her guidance, students of all ages have discovered the joys of working with clay.
Please, park in the back of the museum - take the 2nd driveway off of Hope Lane. You will enter the building through the pottery studio in the back.
