An Important Message from the Directors of the
Cape Cod Museum of Art
Dear CCMoA Community,
As the world struggles to cope with this virus pandemic, your safety and well-being remain in our thoughts. We pray for those who have lost loved ones and those who struggle with infection. Healthcare workers and everyone at risk on the front lines have our sincere gratitude.
As a responsible public institution, the Cape Cod Museum of Art remains closed and we have made the decision not to reopen until authorities deem it is again safe to gather. All programs and classes have also been suspended until further notice. With the recent guidelines extending this closure to an unknown future date, and without admissions and class revenues coming in, the Cape Cod Museum of Art has made the very hard decision to lay off most of our hourly employees. In addition, we have reduced our hours as Co-directors to focus on the mission critical issues.
We are making these necessary changes to ensure that the Cape Cod Museum of Art remains a vital and integral part of the culture on the Cape now, and for future generations. While we don’t know when this will end, or what changes lay on the horizon, here are a few things you can rely on:
We remain steadfastly dedicated to our mission to educate, inspire and excite the imagination of all by using our outstanding collection and diverse programming. With over 2500 pieces in our permanent collection, the CCMoA is the only Museum dedicated to preserving and exhibiting works by artists, past and present, of the entire Cape Cod and Islands region and we have done so for nearly 40 years.
Our unwavering commitment to our members remains unchanged. Membership is the lifeblood of the Museum. Since this closure directly affects the value of your membership, we will automatically extend all memberships purchased or renewed during our closure.
We will emerge from this trial a stronger institution. Using this time to reevaluate our programs and offerings, we are committed to reopening as a more vibrant, more sustainable organization able to respond to the ever-changing art needs of our community.
All updates will be shared on our website, newsletter and social media channels. Please join us!
Art heals, art inspires and art connects communities. It is for these reasons that we look to the future with optimism. Rest assured that when this is over, we will be here for you with our doors wide open. Until then, stay safe, stay strong, stay creative and stay inspired!
With sincere gratitude for your patronage,
Director of Operations
Director of Art
P.S. We have had so many generous people reach out asking what they can do to help us during this time. Many have not accepted cancellation reimbursements, others are sending in donations and we are very grateful to all of you for your contributions. If you are contemplating offering your support, and are able to do so, please consider renewing your membership early.
