Internship Opportunities 

at the Cape Cod Museum of Art

There are five internship positions available, working with the Exhibitions Curator, Registrar, Art Auction Coordinator, Marketing and the Shop Manager. The Exhibitions Intern assists the Executive Director and Exhibitions Curator with various aspects of creating an exhibition, including biographical research on artists, setting up files for upcoming exhibitions and organizing past exhibitions for archiving. The Registrar Intern assists the Registrar with inventory of the museum’s permanent collection, photographing works from the permanent collection, assess the condition of artwork on loan and organizing the permanent collection card catalog. The Art Auction Intern assists the Events Coordinator in all aspects of planning and execution of the museum’s annual arts auction. The Marketing Intern will be coordinating the museum's newsletter and press releases. The Museum Shop Intern will be exposed to the many facets of running a small retail shop within a museum setting.  As part of the internship the student would work directly with the Museum Shop Manager to learn the principles of good customer service, cashiering, buying, pricing, merchandising and bookkeeping.

 

A car is required.

Mileage is not reimbursed.

Housing is not available.

 

Eligibility and requirements:   Undergraduate and graduate students. For the position assisting the Exhibitions Curator an art history background is required. For the Registrar Intern attention to detail and strong computer skills are a must, experience with data entry is helpful. For the Art Auction Internship the ability to multi-task and to demonstrate initiative are important. The Marketing Intern should have some writing and graphic design skills. Museum Shop internship would be appropriate for students studying business administration, art and design, accounting or museum studies.
