CCIAEA Art School Scholarship Award Ceremony and Presentation by author Sharon Leder

Congratulations to this year's recipients Caroline Brodt of Barnstable High School and Chloe McLean of Falmouth High School! See examples of their artwork and hear a presentation by author and educator Sharon Leder. She will speak about her most recent book, The Fix, that details her difficult path growing up and how the book inspired the youth program Creative Outlets at the CCMoA.

The Fix tells the untold true story of Jewish youth involved with jazz and drug culture in the Depression years, the shattering effects on family, and the unexpected response of a daughter catapulted into feminism by resisting social norms of her mother’s generation that demeaned women if they were not attached to men. It’s about a young girl who feels isolated, even in her own family. Sara must find a way to heal inner conflicts caused by her father’s mental depression and her changed circumstances at home and at school. It’s about coping with grief, and finding the courage to speak the truths that lead to healing.
