Cape Art Blooms

THANK YOU FROM THE CAB COMMITTEE
Cape Art Blooms’ inaugural event brought the museum to life, filled with the sights and smells of fresh flowers and bustling visitors. We are grateful for the extraordinary efforts of the regional garden club designers and professional florists and landscapers. Together they put on one exciting three-day event! There were demonstrations by MFA Boston Associates, Yvette Shakespeare and Ronnie Haarmann and workshops by two local floral artists, Mary Garret (Flowers by Mary, Orleans) and Suzanne Faith, dried flower expert. Several local restaurants offered discounts to our patrons, White Flower Farm provided the After Dark party favors, and we previewed our own drink, The BLOOMIE! CCMA docents with a team of 63 volunteers ushered nearly 600 visitors through and helped raise almost $20,000.
Thank you one and all.

Chair, Cape Art Blooms
September 30 - October 2, 2011
In celebration of the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s 30th Anniversary, the museum will host a new event, Cape Art Blooms. The event, organized by the Friends of the Cape Cod Museum of Art and the CCMA Docents, was inspired by the famous Art in Bloom event held annually at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Cape Art Blooms brings together floral designers from regional garden clubs Cape-wide and Plymouth to create vibrant floral displays interpreting the museum’s permanent collection and works of art from temporary exhibitions. Additional floral creations by professional designers will be on display throughout the museum.
The weekend’s events will be celebrated at Cape Art Blooms After Dark, an elegant cocktail reception on Friday, September 30, 6 - 8 pm, featuring the music of the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra’s violin trio as well as hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition on opening day.
Throughout the weekend, special floral demonstrations will be presented by Yvette Shakespeare and Ronnie Haarmann, Associates at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Suzanne Faith, well-known expert in dried floral arrangements; and popular Orleans floral designer, Mary Garrett.
